Odus L. Smith, age 90, of Rutherfordton died Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at Oak Grove Health Care Center. He was a native of Rutherford County and the son of the late Harvey and Alice Harrell Smith. Odus was a graduate of R-S Central High School and worked for Keebler Company for in excess of 30 years. He was an active member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Rutherfordton and an avid gardener for as long as his health permitted. He was preceded in death by two stepchildren Bob Greene and Rebecca Sibley and a granddaughter Melanie Greene.

He is survived by his wife of over 40 years Juliaetta Deter Smith.

Also surviving is his only daughter Sandra Sumner-Wright and husband Bill Wright of Charleston SC.

Numerous Great Grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at Fellowship Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow in the church at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City NC 28043. Online guest register at McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
