Mary Grace Watson Hodge went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 19th, 2014. Her passing occurred twelve days prior to her 89th birthday. She was the daughter of the late Crawford Watson and Bertie Robertson Watson.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 56 years, Thomas Luther Hodge and two brothers. Robert and George Watson of Rutherfordton.
Mary lived most of her life in Rutherford County prior to moving to Charlotte for a number of years. She was employed by Tanner Company and Grindstaff Interiors. She returned to Rutherford County in 2006.
Mary was a lovely Christian lady. She was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. When she was able to do so, she attended Gray's Creek Baptist Church with her family. Mary was a wonderful cook. If you visited with her you had to eat something that would delight your taste buds before leaving. She dearly loved all of us who were fortunate enough to be her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Hodge McCurry, son by marriage, Mike McCurry of Rutherfordton; sister, Ruth Poteat of Rutherfordton, 4 sister's in-laws-Ruth Hodge, Beuna Watson, of Rutherfordton, Lois Hodge and Fronia Hodge of Florida, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family.
Funeral Service will be held at Piedmont Baptist Church, on Saturday, March 22nd, at 2:00 PM. The Funeral ministers will be Rev. Ad Hopper, Rev. Tom Osterhouse, Rev. Darren McGrew, and Rev. Dr. Bryan Ezell. Burial will follow in Piedmont Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, March 21st, 2014 at McMahan's Funeral Home, from 6-8 PM. Flowers or memorials will be deeply appreciated. Memorials may be made to Piedmont Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 1050 Maple Creek Road, Rutherfordton, NC 28139 or the Alzheimer's Association, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
We wish to thank you White Oak Manor of Rutherfordton, for the wonderful tender loving care extended to our mom. May God bless each of you.
