Joe Waters, age 88, of Forest City, NC, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at Fair Haven Home in Bostic.

Joe was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, Choir member and Sunday school teacher. He was a U S Army Veteran of World War II. He was the son of the late Rex and Lucy Johnson Waters and a native of Rutherford County. Joe was first married to the late Lucille Pope Waters and second to the late Lucille Amos Waters. He was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnn Toney, son Michael Waters and a sister Eunice Ledbetter.

He is survived by his wife; Frances Waters.

Karen C Hamrick and her husband Tom of Forest City, NC

Three Sons:
Joseph Ronald Waters and his wife Rita of Ellenboro
Chester Waters and his wife Sharon of Dallas, N.C.
Kevin Waters and his wife Lorrie of Mooresboro

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at McMahan's Funeral Home. The Funeral service will be at Westminster Baptist Church at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 18, 2014 with Rev. Chester Waters and Rev. Michael Sepaugh officiating. Interment will be at Westminster Baptist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Rutherford County Honor Guard. In lieu of Flowers memorials may be made to Westminster Baptist Church; 348 Clements Road; Rutherfordton, N C 28139. Online guest register at McMahan's Funeral Home & Cremation Services in charge of arrangements.
