Carl Dean Bailey, age 69, of Spindale, died Wednesday, February 12, 2014, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Rutherford County he was the son of the late Crawford and Mary Bailey. Carl was a U. S. Army Veteran from 1962-1965. He worked as a Shelby police officer, Rutherford County Deputy, Forest City Police officer, Rutherfordton Police Chief , Spindale police officer and Spindale Firefighter. After retirement he worked as a security guard at Rutherford Hospital and served as a Spindale Town Commissioner. He was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church.

He is survived by

Mary Sue Buff, Rutherfordton,
Ruth Padgett, Ellenboro,

One Brother:
Harold Bailey, Ellenboro,

Companion: Juanita Cook, Forest City

A Funeral service will be held at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 15, 2014 with Rev. Marshall Dill and Rev. Terry Honeycutt officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Saturday prior to the service at McMahan's. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City NC 28043. Online guest register at McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
