Rev. Ben T. Gantt Jr., age 93, of Rutherfordton died Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at the Hospice House of Rutherford County. A native of Cleveland County he was the son of the late Ben T. Gantt Sr. and Lou Lutz Gantt. He was the widower of Lourene Walker Gantt. Ben attended Lebanon UMC and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII and a graduate of Duke University was school principal at Sunnyview Elementary and a retired United Methodist Minister.

He is survived by

One Daughter:
Connie Lail and husband Ronnie of Rutherfordton

One Son:
Larry Gantt and wife Ann of Connelly Springs, NC

Two Grandchildren
Rachael Ownbey and husband Nickey
James Lail and wife Elexus

Four Great Grandsons
Avery, Elijah and Jackson Lail
& Nick Ownbey

A memorial service will be at McMahan's Funeral Home Chapel at 4:00 PM, Thursday, January 30, 2014 with Rev. Ned Owens officiating. The visitation will follow the service at McMahan's. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of Rutherford County P.O. Box 336 Forest City NC 28043. The family wants to give a special thanks to the staff at Hospice. Online guest register at McMahan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.
